ABOUT US
The Eugenia Lo Lab at Drexel University is dedicated to advancing our understanding of malaria, with a particular focus on Plasmodium vivax. Our research delves into the unconventional mechanisms by which Plasmodium vivax invades Duffy-negative reticulocytes, highlighting how the parasite bypasses typical immune responses. We investigate the genetic diversity of Plasmodium vivax populations, which is crucial for understanding its adaptability and resilience against control measures.
Our lab also focuses on the public health implications of malaria, studying the epidemiology of the disease in various demographic groups. We analyze how factors such as genetic diversity, environmental changes, and population movements affect malaria transmission dynamics. This comprehensive approach allows us to develop informed strategies to mitigate the impact of malaria on affected populations, ultimately contributing to global efforts to eradicate the disease.
